KL-S'pore route is safer

Travelling by bus to Kuala Lumpur onthe North-South Expressway (NSE) are more lilkely safer.Indrustry experts say the expressway between the two cities is mush safer than from KL to Penang."I don't think passenger from Singapore have to worry"says Pan Malaysia Bus Operators Association chairman Ashfar Ali.The Northen part of the NSE between KL and Penangis more dangerous.Data releasedby the police,10 accident-prone stretches on the NSE are in Perak.Seven of them are near Ipoh:Jelapang,Gua Tempurung and Kuala Kangsar.
The main killer was at Jelapang toll plaza which was later closed.based on the reports,four accidents have occured in Perak including this month.From media reports,there were nine accidents involving Singapore-and JB-bounds buses from Genting Highlands,Penang,Perak and Kedah.The roads from KL-Singapore to the east-coast states of Pahang,Terenggganu or Kelantan also dangerous stretches in the hills,expert says
According to statistic from the Road Tranport Department, there were 8,594 bus accidents nationwide in 2005, and 11,959 in 2004.The data showed there were 25 deaths from bus accidents this year up to June ,and 39 last year.Mr Sugath Jayatilake,a company director from Sri Lanka,feels that KL- Singapore service are safe. Ms Jenifer Wuen ,a telecommunication executive from Hong Kong who works in Singapore, is more nervous.
